About MaxWorks
MaxWorks was founded by Max Sandford to bring dependable, science‑led turf care to Devon’s finest green spaces. Today he maintains leading bowling greens, cricket and rugby pitches, as well as National Trust lawns, applying the same standards he honed during his years at elite rugby club, Exeter Chiefs.
Max began his career in turf care in 2009, learning under the experienced head groundsman at the club. What started as a practical role quickly became a deep respect for the precision and discipline required to produce consistently high‑performing surfaces. Over time he progressed through formal qualifications and stepped into the role of Head Groundsman, leading the pitch team and upholding the level of care expected in professional rugby.
MaxWorks was created to bring that same integrity, attention to detail and pride in workmanship to local clubs and homeowners. Whether it’s a playing surface recovering from heavy play or a homeowner restoring their lawn, Max approaches every project with the same commitment he brought to elite sport.
Clients value Max for his hard work, honesty and reliability, he works as a partner rather than a contractor, often going the extra mile to make a difference to the clubs he supports. He listens, advises, and delivers the full solution supporting their long‑term improvement plans aims and club expectations.
